Bled
Mirror lake “Bled”, at the foot of the Julian Alps. The lake is located at an altitude of 475 meters above sea level with a maximum depth of 30 meters. In the center of the lake there is an island with the Mariinsky Church, there is a belief that if you ring the bell and make a wish, it will surely come true. You can get to this island on your own, by renting a boat, or with the captain of the historical “wicker”, feeling the power of rowing by strong men who have taken over this business from generation to generation. You can also climb the cliff with the castle “Grimshche”, enjoy a stunning view at an altitude of 130 meters. See the sights of Henry II’s domain.
On the shore you will find hospitable restaurants, cafes, casinos, as well as many entertainment for all ages. Only here you can taste the famous Slovenian dessert “Bledshnita”.
Blejskij (also known as Bled, Blejskij, Bledskii; Slovene. Blejsko jezero) is a lake in the Slovenian region of Krajna, which is home to the resort town of Bled and the Pokljuka mountain plateau. The lake is located at an altitude of 475 m above sea level. Bled Castle is located on a steep rock above the lake.
High mountains do not allow cold air flows and create a special microclimate in the valley. In July and August, the lake warms up to 25 ° C. In the middle of the lake there is a small island (Blejski otok) with the famous St. Mary’s Church and significant excavations from the early Middle Ages. To visit the island, traditional wooden boats called “tynom” are offered. Another important attraction is the Hrymshche Castle.
Lake Blayskyi is the venue for major international academic rowing competitions. The world championships in academic rowing (1966, 1979, 1989, 2011) and European (1956), as well as the stage of the World Cup (2010) were held on the lake.
